The Fourth of July is always a fun event in Charlottesville, especially at the City of Charlottesville's own McIntire Park. Right in the heart of Charlottesville, this annual event is free and is fun for all ages
The Rivanna River
The Rivanna River is the major recreational water source in Charlottesville, and in addition to being utilized for the UVA rowing teams, it is also commonly used for fishing, rafting, canoeing, swimming, and tubing.
Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive
One of the biggest highlights in Charlottesville is it's scenic views and beautiful drives. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive are both a must-see, with an entrance just 22 miles West of Charlottesville.
Shenandoah National Park
Shenandoah National Park, with stunning natural beauty second to none in the state, is an awesome place to take the family hiking, go on a picnic, and check out the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
University of Virginia Alumni
The University of Virginia Alumni Association has a strong influence throughout Charlottesville. The presence of University alumni and their contributions to Charlottesville are significant, and UVA has some of the most loyal alumni you'll see! You won't be able to miss them on UVA game days.
Golfing in Charlottesville
There are several beautiful golf courses to choose from in Charlottesville; Birdwood, Farmington, Keswick, Meadowcreek, Glenmore, Lake Monticello, McIntire, Old Trail, and Spring Creek.
College Town
The University of Virginia is one of the largest employers in Charlottesville and the University faculty, students, and staff are huge contributors to the success of our local economy. City's that thrive off of college campuses are often much more insulated from market shifts and weak economies.

Hiking at Humpback Rock
Charlottesville is surrounded by hundreds of beautiful trails and hiking paths, and is very near an entrance to the Appalachian Trail. One of the most popular hiking routes is up Humpback Rock, which is a fairly short hike but that culminates in breath-taking views across much of Charlottesville!
Pink Ribbon Polo Classic at King Family Vineyard
The purpose of the Pink Ribbon Polo event is to raise awareness and funds to benefit breast cancer care and research in our community (all proceeds stay local!). Enjoy the world's most exciting sport - at one of the most beautiful spots in Virginia.
John Paul Jones Arena
Opening in 2006, the John Paul Jones Arena (JPJ) has hosted several incredible acts, including Dave Matthews Band, Eric Clapton, The Dead, Cirque du Soleil, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, Blue Man Group, Rascal Flatts, Billy Joel, Justin Timberlake, Maroon5, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, and The Eagles.
Fridays After Five
Fridays After Five is a free concert series at the Charlottesville Pavilion that runs from roughly April through September every year, featuring great bands from Charlottesville and all along the East Coast. This is an open-air concert, rain or shine, and is great for all ages!
Veritas Vineyard and Winery
Located in Afton, Virginia, Veritas Vineyard is arguably one of the nicest vineyards along the Virginia Wine Trail. With beautiful mountain views and an open, quiet setting- it is a great place to spend a day wine-tasting or even to attend a wedding!
University of Virginia Athletics
The University of Virginia's athletics program competes in Division I (and the Football Bowl Subdivision for football) and since 1953 as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Virginia Cavaliers, also called "Wahoos" or "Hoos", have won 19 recognized national championships, 14 of them since 1980.
Charlottesville's Historic Highlights

The Foxfield Race, also referred to as just "Foxfield" is an annual horse race held in Charlottesville, that attracts people young and old to a long day in the sun in the beautiful outdoors.
